Information request form

You can expect a response from us in line with the Official Information Act (OIA), Privacy Act, Natural Hazards Insurance Act, Earthquake Commission Act or all, whichever is appropriate to your request. The OIA requires us to give you our decision on your request as soon as possible, and no later than 20 working days after we receive your request.

Official Information Act (OIA) requests will be affected by the Christmas holiday period, from 25 December 2024 to 15 January 2025 (inclusive). Any OIA request received from 27 November onwards will be affected. You can use the Official Information Calculator(external link) on the Office of the Ombudsman's website to find the latest date you can expect a response.

Preferred response method
This method of response is not suitable for P.O boxes and additional time will be required for delivery.

Definition of an authorised requester

Authorised requesters include: the insured/claimant, claim contact, current property owner with Deed of Assignment (DOA), or authorised representatives including real estate agents representing the seller, with a listing agreement or requests related to you personally

Unauthorised requesters include: a potential home buyer, current property owner without a DOA, or other non-claim contact parties with demonstrated interest in receiving information.
